An existentialist sports comedy about chess and success, directed by Adam Traynor and starring Chilly Gonzales, the amateur actor, brilliantly flanked by a charmingly villainous Tiga (as his brother), and the inimitable Peaches as their love interest. Director Adam Traynor once said the following about the movie: “Ivory Tower is a tour de force, a series set pieces performed with simple gestures in modulating forms. It’s a a Rocky-inspired sports parody; a Sirkean melodrama; a nouvelle Nouvelle-vague free Jazz riff; a music video; a YouTube bricolage; a silent era pastiche; a commercial. In the end, Ivory Tower’s modal composition is the closest we’ll get to an explanation of Hershell’s esoteric vision for “Jazz Chess”. This is why (forgive the cliche) I like to think of Ivory Tower as several movies in one.”.

Depending on who you ask, the question “who is Gonzales?” will elicit various answers. Other than “je ne sais pas”, there is “prankster rapper from the Berlin underground”, “workaholic Grammy-nominated arranger/producer”, “melancholic piano virtuoso” or “softly powerful crooner”. And now “Guinness World Record holder” and “Jazz-Chesser”.
Boysnoize Records proudly presents CHILLY GONZALES’ latest stunt “I AM EUROPE”, lead-single to the highly anticipated album IVORY TOWER (produced by BOYS NOIZE) which will be released worlwide in August through CHILLY GONZO´s own imprint GENTLE THREAT.
I AM EUROPE is not only a lyrical genius, it sends you on a disco – ride, building up and breaking down to finally echo the great entertainer´s mind about “Europe”, a “Toilet with no seat, flushing tradition down”.
Diverse remixers have done their magic:
From San Francisco´s Dirtybirds Rec head CLAUDE VON STROKE, who takes us on on his very special trip, to young talent and BNRs finest DJEDJOTRONIC, coming with a more techy version, and Berlin’s DIRTY DOERING who is known for his deep Tech-House and succesful releases on Bar25. DIRTY DOERING´s remix is “The Wolf´s” fav and the closest to the original, bringing in the great moment of how to warm up the dancefloor.
As a Bonus you get an A Capella to mess around and go crazy with.

Boys Noize woke up anyone who was feeling beat on Saturday night, 26th June after eight-plus hours of dancing. The Berlin-based artist, known to his friends as Alex Ridha, assisted the weary and wired alike as the fest wound down with searing renditions of tracks from his small-yet-stellar catalogue of bangers (see “Lava Lava” and “Kontact Me”) accompanied by red, black and white visuals projected onto screens (via SPIN & URB )

Other than the Independent Music Awards Music Nomination named in December/January by the artist and industry judging panel that included Tom Waits, Bettye LaVette, Ricky Skaggs, Suzanne Vega, Aimee Mann, Pete Wentz, David Garrett, Zooey Deschanel, M. Ward, Anthony DeCurtis and Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman among many other music luminaries – fans from around the world voted online for their favorite self-released and independent label artists culled from the 250 IMA nominees.
The 9th Independent Music Awards Vox Pop Awards is the fan-determined portion of The IMAs. To date, more than 48,000 music fans from around the world have voted online, creating a new crop of IMA winners distinct from those announced in December/January who were determined by our artist and industry judging panel.
